Diogenes of Babylon, or Seleucia (c. 240–150 BC) — a disciple Chrysippus, prominent representative the last period Early Stoa, head Stoic school after Zeno Tarsus. In writings Diogenes, which few fragments have been preserved, almost all main and many auxiliary issues stoic dogmatics were touched upon. Being more traditionalist than an innovator, nevertheless, specified clarified definitions, in some cases offered his own ones sometimes deviated from canons. He also paid attention to special topics, such as music. enjoyed great authority, including among Romans (Cicero called him "an authoritative influential Stoic"). 155 visited Rome member Athenian embassy. Among students was founder Middle Panaetius Rhodes.
